Pain Management and Palliative Care
Pain Management and Palliative Care
Chronic pain doesn't have to be an inevitable part of aging. Many dogs and cats with arthritis, mobility issues, or chronic disease can enjoy a significantly improved quality of life with a personalized pain management plan.
At East Coast Veterinary Acupuncture, I provide in-home pain and palliative care consultations focused on keeping your pet comfortable, active, and enjoying the things they love for as long as possible. Every treatment plan is tailored to your pet's individual needs and may include lifestyle recommendations, acupuncture, medications, supplements, rehabilitation guidance, and injections.
For many pets, injectable therapies can provide weeks to months of pain relief with minimal side effects. I offer the latest FDA-approved arthritis injections (Adequan, Solensia) for both dogs and cats, helping reduce pain, improve mobility, and make everyday activities such as walking, climbing stairs, jumping, and playing more comfortable.
These treatments can be an excellent option for pets with osteoarthritis, especially those who cannot tolerate long-term oral pain medications or would benefit from a multimodal approach.
When a pet is living with advanced age, cancer, neurologic disease, or another life-limiting condition, the goal shifts from curing disease to maximizing comfort and preserving quality of life. Choosing these services as a house-call visit shifts it from a stressful veterinary visit while your pet is already debilitated to a gentle supportive therapy.
Palliative care focuses on managing pain, maintaining mobility, supporting appetite and daily function, and helping families navigate difficult decisions with confidence and compassion. Together, we'll develop a plan that prioritizes your pet's comfort while supporting you every step of the way. I can provide in-home subcutaneous fluids, anti-nausea injections, and pain medication injections to give your pet comfort and support.
Whether your pet is beginning to slow down or facing a more serious condition, my goal is to provide thoughtful, individualized care that helps them feel their very best in the comfort of home.
